NEW WELSH CONSTITUENCY LINE-UP

Boundary changes affect 22 of the 40 first-past-the-post Welsh Assembly constituencies.
Two of the five proportional representation top-up ones have significant alterations.
A survey by Professors Colin Rallings and Michael Thrasher of Plymouth University for PA,
BBC, ITN and Sky News estimates how seats would have divided if the alterations had been
in force at the 2003 election.

The overall calculated result is that Plaid Cymru would have won Aberconwy instead of
Labour which has the present Conwy.

The knock-on effect of this is that Plaid would be entitled to one less top-up seat in Wales
North and Tories to one extra, making a net gain of one for Conservatives from Labour.

All the 2003 results - for both boundary change and non boundary change constituencies -
are listed below.
The boundary change ones are identified by the index of change figure in the second line
and the word notional after 2003.

There are no boundary changes for the Scottish Parliament election.
